1. What is RCRA and what are its goals and objectives? Resource Conservation Recovery Act of 1976 was created to regulate solid waste and hazardous waste as well as regulate underground storage tanks. The goals and objectives of the RCRA are: â⬠¢ Protect human health and the environment from the potential hazards of waste disposal â⬠¢ To conserve energy and natural resources â⬠¢ To reduce the amount of waste generated â⬠¢ To ensure that wastes are managed in an environmentally sound manner (EPA, What is RCRA?, 2010) 2. What are the two agencies that regulate the generation and transportation of hazardous waste? Briefly describe these agencies. The 2 agencies that regulate are the EPA and the Department of Transportation (DOT). The EPA is known to all as the Environmental Protection Agency and is the main government control group.
